Welcome to Gaia's Portal version 4.0. This site has been online since 2001, and has gone through 3 major revamps. The original version, which went live on June 24th, 2001, was hosted on a cheap GeoCities Account. At that time there were few but great sites about Illusion of Gaia. I remember going to Cabus Ginifrobo's legendary Loire 1st Avenue many times, finding information on the whole Soul Blazer Trilogy, and discovering the whole community behind the games' sudden revival. I thank emulation for giving me Illusion of Gaia back, and letting me discover Soul Blazer and Terranigma.

Following the original inception of the site I was at BFC Bagotville for a three-week stay for my Cadet Instructor Course, during which I drew a comic about IoG in my spare time. The short comic never found its way to this site, because of the poor quality of the drawings and overly simple and redundant plot, but it paved the way for my fanfiction story Return to Earth.

I followed up with a few updates here and there, when nice people like Joe Laquinte and BlackJack Gabbiani sent me fanfictions. Apart from additional game content and the odd walkthrough, the bulk of my site updates consisted of adding new fanfiction stories to the section. My site has been blessed by incredible stories such as The World's Martyr, If Fate Allows and He Who Walked Away, to name a few. To this day the number of fanfictions hosted here remain a highlight of the site.

So here we are, nearly 5 years later. I have been through college and have become a better web designer as a result. I think it's time Gaia's Portal got a little layer of polish.

In this world of Wikipedia articles, one may question why I keep this site running. The answer is: I love this game. I want to stay a part of this community of gamers who share my entusiasm and emotional attachment to this incredible title. More sites like mine means more chances of finding information about the game. Even if there is some overlap, it makes no difference. I loved IoG back then and I love it now. Let this site remain alive.
